Dr Stephen Philcox

President

Dr Philcox is a gastroenterologist and interventional endoscopist. He underwent training in Sydney and Brisbane before heading to North Carolina to undertake a fellowship in interventional endoscopy at Duke University.

This was followed by a brief stint as an attending at Duke University Medical Centre and the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Durham before returning to Australia to take up a staff specialist position at John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle.

His practice encompasses therapeutic EUS and ERCP and he has a special interest in all things pancreatic.

Dr Philcox is the current President of the Australasian Pancreatic Club and is an abstract reviewer for pancreatic submissions to DDW.

Dr Chamini Perera

Dr Chamini Perera is a Senior Lecturer working with the Pancreatic Research Group, South West Sydney Clinical Campuses, Faculty of Medicine and Health, UNSW Sydney. She completed her PhD in the field of Neuropathic Pain and transitioned into the field of pancreatology in 2019. Her current research involves understanding the mechanism of Pancreatic Cancer-Related Diabetes with a focus on identification of potential biomarkers of pancreatic cancer for early detection. She is an emerging research leader in the field of pancreatic research and currently serves as a board member of the Australasian Pancreatic Club.
